Open to the Mediterranean and stretching to the edge of the Sahara, the region of the Oriental spans over an area of 82 820 km2 and is bordered from the north by a coastline of 200 km opening towards Europe and on the east it looks to other Maghreban countries with its 550 km borders with Algeria. The region has diversified geographic landscapes that enriches its natural and human assets.
This geographic location positions the region at the national level to take advantage from the international cooperation agreements signed by Morocco:
- Free Trade Agreements with Europe,
- Free Trade Agreements with Arab countries (Agadir Agreement),
- Free Trade Agreements with Turkey,
- Free Trade Agreements with USA.
